In the digestive tract, fibre helps support normal movement of food and waste through the intestines. By absorbing water and adding bulk to the stool, fibre can help maintain a healthy stool consistency and support regular bowel movements.<br><br>\nPsyllium husks are a natural source of soluble fibre. When mixed with water, they swell and form a soft gel-like substance. This helps retain moisture in the stool and can support a normal digestive process by making the stool easier to pass.<br><br>\n\n<strong>Feeding recommendation for supplemental use:<\/strong><br>\nWhen preparing a 1kg homemade cat food recipe, add 1\u20132 teaspoons of psyllium husks as a source of fibre. Mix the psyllium with water and let it sit until it gels before adding it to the food.<br><br>\nAs with any change to your cat\u2019s diet, fibre should be introduced gradually. Adding too much fibre too quickly may affect your cat\u2019s digestion and lead to changes in stool consistency, such as softer stools or diarrhoea. Observe your cat\u2019s response and adjust the amount if needed.<br><br>\n<strong>Important<\/strong><br>\nPsyllium must always be given with enough water, as it needs moisture to swell properly. Because psyllium may affect the absorption of certain medications and supplements, it should be given at least 2 hours before or after other medications or supplements.<br><br>\n<strong>Please note<\/strong><br>\nDo not use psyllium if your cat has an intestinal blockage or if there is a known risk of obstruction in the digestive tract.
